Get Well

Using My Stash Series: Altenew Bamboo Rose

Today’s entry is from the “stash” that I accumulated while working on my Altenew Educator Certificate. Many times I’d work on something and then get caught up in seeing the imperfections rather than the overall beauty in the project. As I use my “stash,” I am trying to be less critical and more appreciative…enjoying the challenge of bringing out the best rather than dwelling on imperfection.

The secret of this technique is that you use Versamark ink and clear embossing powder on the colored card stock, then, on the white card stock, you use an ink color to match the colored card stock, then clear heat emboss over the colored ink.

Supplies: Altenew Bamboo Rose Stamp Set, Altenew Inks: Dew Drops, Aqualicious, Teal Cave, Galactic Stream, Ranger “Greetings” Stamp Set, Altenew Crystal Clear Embossing Powder, Prismacolor Pencils: Aquamarine (PC905), Light Green (PC920), Cobalt Turquoise (PC105), Versamark Ink, Teal Cardstock, Neenah Solar White, Classic Crest #80, #110 cardstock, Craft Foam, Neat & Tangled Sequins, a rectangle frame die of your choice.

How to make it: Using a stamping tool such as a Misti (My Sweet Petunia), place your white card stock (4.25″x5.5″) into the Misti and arrange your floral stamps around the top and one side so that when you turn your card stock the pattern will repeat and connect edge to edge. (I hope that made sense.) Stamp using the Galactic Stream ink. Repeat if necessary. Clean stamp and let the white card stock dry. Take turquoise card stock and place in Misti. Use an anti-static powder tool on the card stock to prepare it for heat embossing. Using Versamark Ink stamp the floral arrangement onto the colored card stock. Emboss with clear embossing powder. Turn card stock and repeat so that the floral pattern goes all the way around the card stock.

Put the white card stock back into the Misti, prep it with an anti-static powder tool. Using Versamark Ink re-stamp the white card stock and clear heat emboss (you are doing this over your first stamping with the colored ink).

Using a rectangle frame die, cut a frame out of both the floral card stock pieces. Placing the white card stock back into the Misti, center your sentiment. As you ink up the sentiment, start with the lightest color ink and move from lightest to darkest on your stamp. Repeat this process, if necessary, to deepen the color. This should give you an ombre affect for your sentiment. Adhere the card front to a card base of #110 Neenah Solar White, Classic Crest card stock. Embellish with sequins.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. I hope you have a great day…and remember, don’t focus on the imperfections…look for the beauty. 🙂

Using Your Stash

Yes, ….more stash. 🙂 I think I could make cards all summer just using backgrounds and elements of previous projects. This card I have for you today is elegant and cheerful and features antique gold embossing around the edges of the flowers and leaves.

The background was made using Altenew’s Wavy Grid Stencil, Vanilla Cream ink, and a Life Changing Blender Brush.

Supplies: Altenew Wavy Grid Stencil, Altenew Garden Treasure Stamp & Die Set, Altenew Thank You Builder Stamp, Altenew Crystal Clear Embossing Powder and Antique Gold Embossing Powder, Altenew Permanent Black Ink; Altenew Crisp Dye Inks: Vanilla Cream, Blush, Rouge, Velvet, Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Versamark Ink, Neat & Tangled Sequins, Picket Fence Studio Life Changing Blender Brushes.

How I Made It: I used a Life Changing Blender Brush to apply vanilla cream ink over the wavy grid stencil. I used lighter pressure toward the edges and heavier pressure toward the center of the cardstock. I had the flowers and leaves already made from my stash. They were heat embossed with antique gold embossing powder then layered following the Altenew guides. After choosing the placement of the flowers, I stamped the sentiment with black ink and Versamark ink and heat embossed with crystal clear embossing powder. On the card base I smudged Versamark ink all around the edges and heat embossed using antique gold embossing powder. I then placed the card front onto the card base with a slight tilt. Although I trimmed the small edges that were hanging off the card base, I would not do that again. I would leave the corners hanging over the edges; I felt it looked better. I then embellished it with sequins.

Christmas Cards – Day 4

Christmas blessings everyone! Yesterday I had the fun of picking out some chocolates to put in my family’s stockings. A little something different for each person, courtesy of Hilliard’s Chocolates in Mansfield, MA. What I love the most about shopping there is that they give out free samples while you walk around and shop. Yummy!

Today I have 4 cards that feature Neat & Tangled‘s Tree Duo Stencils. This stencil came out in 2017 and I had so much fun using them last Christmas that I went right to them this year.

Take a look.

These bright and cheerful cards were made using Catherine Pooler inks.

I will post an individual picture of each of these cards but will do only one write up of the materials I used. All cards use Neenah Solar White, Classic Crest #80 and/or #110 card stock. (The center card has green cardstock also.) The sentiments were chosen from Neat & Tangled Joyful Sentiments Stamps and My Favorite Things Handwritten Holiday Stamp Set.

All the cards feature Catherine Pooler inks in the following colors: Lime Rickey, Grass Skirt, Flirty Fuschia, Party Dress, Tiki Torch and Versafine Onyx Black Ink (for the sentiments).

The special features of this card are from Honey Bee Stamps Winter Wonder Background Stencils, Dream Weaver Embossing Paste, WOW opague Bright White Embossing Powder, Craft Smart White Acrylic Paint.
