Valentine Wishes

Hello there! I have never been a big Valentine’s Day card maker but this year has been different. With all the social distancing we have been doing for almost a year now, I miss “sharing the love” with hugs and affection. When you can’t do that with a physical hug then a hand made card can be the next best thing. 🙂

This card is so pretty in person!! I hope to be able to show you thru multiple pictures some of the beauty in this card.

One of the features of the card is the center heart. I found this among my stash, cut from some pattern paper I had at some point. It is an ivory color so it sets itself apart from the white background. The white cardstock front was ink splattered with Altenew’s Jet Black Ink Spray, after I used Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plate: Woven and Go Press and Foil: Clear Foil (iridescent finish).

The flowers and leaves were cut using Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plate: Calligraphy Hearts and a card that I had done some alcohol inking on a long time ago. The alcohol inks I used were from Marabu: Olive Green and Garnet.

This was such an easy card to make and so pretty! I hope you liked it!

Happy Valentine’s Day Cards with Spellbinders Calligraphy Hearts

Good Morning! Today I have two cards to share for Valentine’s Day. They both have the same basic layout but with a couple of slight differences.

Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plates: Calligraphy Hearts and Perfect Fit Hexagon Strips are the highlights of today’s cards. Both of them have been Glimmer Kits of the Month at Spellbinderspaperarts.com .

To deepen the color of this fuschia card stock, I used Altenew’s Purple Wine crisp dye ink and an ink blending brush to blend the ink onto the exposed areas of the fuschia card stock.
I used the pink glimmer hot foil on the hexagon strips and the deeper, magenta foil on the hearts. Black foil was used for the sentiment in both the cards.
All the hearts and hexagon shapes were foiled with deep red foil.
The center heart was glued to the vellum heart and the vellum heart was mounted to the card with foam tape to elevate it, add texture and depth.

The supplies I used in these cards include: Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plate: Calligraphy Hearts and Perfect Fit Hexagon Strips; Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil: GLF-006 (Pink) and GLF-039 (Magenta); Go Press and Foil: Deep Red Foil (mirror) and Midnight Black Foil (yellow matte finish); Altenew Red Card stock; My Favorite Things Stitched Heart STAX; Fuschia card stock; Altenew Purple Wine Crisp Dye Ink.

Thanks A Bunch: featuring Altenew’s Pressed Leaf Die

I am so excited about my card today! Ever since I got Altenew’s Pressed Leaf Die I could picture it with alcohol inks. Well, I finally had a chance to play with it and use some alcohol inks with it. My inspiration came from fall leaves and how they can have multiple colors displayed in them as they change and get ready to fall off.

This card is square and larger than usual. It is 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.

I began this card by stamping my vase with one layer of Altenew’s Autumn Blaze Crisp Dye ink and 2 layers of Altenew’s Firebrick Crisp Dye ink. I then used a finger sponge dauber to apply Altenew’s Antique Gold Pigment ink to the stamp and stamping it over the Firebrick. I repeated this process (with the antique gold pigment ink) a couple of times until it looked the way I wanted it to. I then die cut the vase so that I could use it to plan the rest of my card.

Using a 6″x6″ piece of white card stock, I stamped 2-3 times using Altenew’s Rustic Linen Stamp and embossing ink. Once this was dry I planned where my leaf branches would be cut and die cut them. When doing this, you do cut into the left and right branches just a bit. It does not affect the finished product. Cut down your card front to 5 1/4″ across and 5 1/8″ down.

Next I chose some alcohol inks in colors that I see in fall leaves, some Yupo paper and 91% isopropyl alcohol and started moving the colors around with an air brush. I used a couple of sheets of Yupo paper until I had some designs that I thought I could use. Taking the Altenew Pressed Leaf Die, I cut the image out 3 times from the alcohol inked Yupo paper and then fussy cut the whole branch out. I also creased the center of each branch where the die cut leaves an impression. Each branch is then glued to the white card stock that was cut earlier. I glued the center branch last.

I tied a small bow at the mouth of the vase using gold thread then mounted the vase onto the card front using foam tape. The sentiment was made with Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System and Rose Gold Foil (vintage matte finish). I then mounted the card front to a piece of black card stock 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. This was then mounted onto a 5 1/2″x 5 1/2″ #110 white cardstock base.

The supplies I used are as follows: Altenew Mod Vases Stamp & Die; Altenew Rustic Linen Stamp Set; Altenew Pressed Leaf Die; Altenew Embossing Ink; Altenew Antique Gold Pigment Ink; Altenew Crisp Dye Inks – Autumn Blaze and Firebrick; Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System; Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plate: Everyday Sentiments II; Yupo paper; Lawn Fawn Every Day Sentiment Banners; Marabu Alcohol Inks: Agave, Cinnamon, Metallic Copper; 91% Isoproply Alcohol

An Ugly Sweater Design to say “Merry Christmas”

Hi there! … and yes, I am still making some Christmas cards and I’m still playing with hot foil glimmer plates by Spellbinders. 🙂

Today I am just posting one picture of my card. Keeping it simple and easy. I hope you like it.

This card was so easy to make. From the Christmas Sweater Borders Hot Glimmer Plate, choose the plates and patterns you want to use. Choose the foil colors you would like to use and foil according to your Hot Glimmer System. Foil a sentiment and cut out in an oval. Cut another oval out of vellum slightly larger than your sentiment. Glue your sentiment oval onto your vellum oval. Then center your sentiment and fasten it to the card using foam tape.

Supplies used in my card today include: Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plate: Christmas Sweater Borders (GLP-192); Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil: Red (GOF Jan 21), Gold, Veridian Green (GLF-021); Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plate: Yana’s Christmas Sentiment; Hero Arts Infinity Dies Nested Frame Rounded Rectangle; My Favorite Things In & Out Stitched Oval; Altenew Red Cardstock; Vellum.

You’re In My Thoughts: Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plates

Welcome back to Treasures in Letter. Today I have a beautiful, simple card made with Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil system and plates.

This card features the Spellbinders Framed Details Glimmer Hot Foil plate.

To make the background of this card I taped together the frame and the falling leaves plate. Then I used Go Press and Foil Rose Gold (Vintage Matte) foil.

To make the flowers on this card I used Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plate: Christmas Organic Foliage with Go Press and Foil: Christmas Green (mirror) and Phantom Purple (Iridescent Material Pattern). The sentiment was from Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plate: More Sentiments (GLP-156). I mounted the sentiment using foam tape.

I hope you liked the card. I have another one that I will share later this week.

Thank you for stopping bye. Here are some of my supplies.

Making Spirits Bright

Hello. Thank you for stopping by Treasures in Letters.

Today I am sharing with you a Christmas card that I made using Spellbinders Hot Glimmer Plates. Christmas comes and goes so quickly that I usually have no time to really enjoy some of the new stamps, dies, or foil plates that I had ordered for the Christmas season. That was certainly the case this year, so I decided ahead of time that I would continue to make Christmas cards until I am tired of it.

I have owned a hot foil press for about 5 years now; I have both a Go Press and Foil (Couture Creations) and a Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil system. Every year I seem to use them only around Christmas time but I am enjoying all the new hot glimmer plates that Spellbinders has been releasing for all seasons and occasions. I am having so much fun playing with them that it doesn’t even matter to me if I end up with a card at the end of the day.

This card is so beautiful in person. I have it standing up on one of my craft tables and whenever I turn on the light it just sparkles and lights up.

To make this card I started out by using Spellbinders Twinkle Lights Hot Foil Glimmer Plate with Spellbinders Prism Glimmer Hot Foil to make my background. I then used Tim Holtz Distress Ink colors: Salty Ocean, Broken China, Stormy Sky, and Chipped Sapphire to ink blend over the foil, using blender brushes. I then cut my background frame using Hero Arts Infinity Dies, Rounded Rectangle.

The sentiment is from Spellbinders Elegant Holiday Glimmer Sentiments and I used Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil GLF-020 (royal blue). I cut the sentiment out with We R Memory Keepers Nesting Circle Dies (3″ circle) and cut a second one out of craft foam. I trimmed the craft foam circle to fit behind the sentiment circle and glued it in place.

Using Spellbinders Christmas Organic Foliage Hot Glimmer Plates, I foiled and cut out flowers and leaves using Spellbinders Hot Glimmer Foil: GLF-015 (Skybright), GLF-009 (Shiny Teal), and Go Press and Foil Sea Breeze (Iridescent Digital Pattern).

This photo captures the shine of the beautiful foils used on the card.

Thank you for stopping bye. I hope you liked the card.
