It’s another card made from a background I made awhile back and put into my stash. Split-Card Design inspired by Jennifer McGuire 2019

Today my card has been inspired by Jennifer McGuire’s YouTube video post on May 10, 2019. It is called a “split card design” because the top and bottom of the front of the card are only connected by the elements between them. The middle of the card has a hole in it, so to speak. Check it out in the pictures below.

My youngest daughter recently moved to Virginia with her husband, so this card was made with her in mind. The card has a number of imperfections, as it takes a bit of planning ahead of time, but my daughter will see only the LOVE that was put into it. 😉

When you see the card from the inside you can see how the top and bottom of the card are connected by the elements in the card. The rest is open space.

Supplies: Lawn Fawn Simple Grassy Hillsides, Honey Bee Stamps Special Delivery, Lawn Fawn Upon A Star, Concord & 9th Retro Petals Turnabout Stamp Set, Lawn Fawn Little Picket Fence Border, Lawn Fawn Plane and Simple, Honey Bee Stamps Cloud Borders, Vellum, Gina K Designs Amalgam ink, Neenah Solar White Classic Crest #80, #110 card stock, Copic markers: B00, RVo2, N2, N3, E00, E13, E15, E23, E31, R24, C5.

How I made it: Please see Jennifer McGuire’s YouTube video on how to put together a “split card” design. She does a wonderful job of teaching how to do it. 🙂 I have a link to the video at the beginning of my blog post.

Spotlight on Magenta and Technique Junkies Stamps

Well hello and welcome back to Treasures in Letters. Although I have been quiet on my blog, I have been very busy making cards. I’m someone who enjoys making cards so much more than writing about them ;). Now that I have a bunch of cards I will begin the process of sharing them all with you and in Virginia Lu’s Show and Share.

So today’s card was made for a friend who is going thru a tough time. I wanted to encourage her and let her know that I care about her. It features a stamp from the company Magenta (I believe they are located in Canada), Technique Junkies (the sentiment), and a Scripture sentiment on the inside, from the formerly, Our Daily Bread Stamps.

The watercolor effect on the card was made using Tim Holtz Distress Markers.

Supplies: Tim Holtz Distress Markers: Gathered Twigs, Tea Dye, Pine Needles, Forest Moss, Twisted Citron; Magenta Stamp C-0747-M, Technique Junkies Day by Day, Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink, Altenew Crystal Clear Embossing Powder, Canson Watercolor card stock, black card stock, craft cardstock, Our Daily Bread Scripture Collection 3, Neenah Solar White Classic Crest #110 card stock.

Thinking of You

Concord & 9th Wreath Turnabout Stamp Set 2019

Hi there and welcome back to Treasures in Letters! Today’s card is another that I am entering in Virginia Lu’s Show & Share (May 2019). She was my mentor in the Altenew Educator Certificate Program and she continues to be a wonderful encourager and inspiration to me. 🙂

As you will notice, I have used the same stamp set as my earlier blog post only this time, I used various different colors rather than different shades of the same color. I hope you like it.

This card features outlined edges in both black multiliner and white gel pen for a more artistic free-hand look.
A vertical sentiment breaks with the traditional horizontal look and the pinstripe background adds a nice touch.

Supplies: Concord & 9th Wreath Turnabout Stamp Set, Altenew Pinstripe Stamp, Altenew inks: Warm Sunshine, Pink Pearl, Just Green, Rocky Shore, Permanent Black, Altenew Pure White Embossing Powder, Black card stock, Neenah Solar White Classic Crest #110 card stock, Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words Stamp, Copic Multilier .3, Gina K Designs Theresa Momber Vertical Greetings and Things, Recollections Adhesive Pearls, Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen, Versamark ink.

How I made it: I followed Concord & 9th procedures for turnabout stamps and chose a different color for each turn of the stamp (see colors above). I then outlined all the larger images with a black copic multiliner pen. I then went around and highlighted the leaf images with a white gel pen. I white heat embossed my sentiment with Altenew’s Pure White embossing powder and mounted it on a piece of card stock that I had previously stamped with Altenew’s pinstripe stamp. I stamped a small coordinating sentiment on the bottom of my card and embellished the card with adhesive pearls and thin strips of (scrap) black card stock.

LOVE – Concord & 9th Wreath Turnabout Stamp

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day Weekend to you all!!

Today’s card features Concord & 9th’s Wreath Turnabout Stamp and Altenew’s Garden Treasure Stamp Set. I’ve entered this card in Virginia Lu’s Show & Share May 2019; I hope you like it.

It is so easy to create using a turnabout stamp. Take a look.

The center flowers are made of vellum, heat embossed with Altenew Crystal Clear embossing powder and their new pigment ink: Obsidian. It is wonderful!!
This side view shows the dimension that the vellum flowers add along with the adhesive rhinestones and pearls.

Supplies: Concord & 9th Wreath Turnabout Stamp, Altenew inks: Minty Mint, Sweet Leaf, Just Green, Hunter Green, and their new Obsidian Pigment Ink (just gorgeous), Altenew Crystal Clear Embossing Powder, Altenew Pure White Embossing Powder, Altenew Garden Treasure Stamp & Die Set, Copic Multiliner .3, Black card stock, craft foam, Fiskar’s scoring tool and pad, Recollections Adhesive Rhinestones, Versamark ink, Neenah Solar White Classic Crest #110 card stock.

How I made it: Following Concord & 9th’s turnabout stamp instructions, I stamped my wreath image using the 4 different Altenew inks (shades of green). Though it is imperceptible from the photos, on the large inner leaves and some of the outer leaves, I used a Fiskar’s scoring tool and traced around the leaves in order to add some depth to the stamped image. This is visible when you see the card in person. I also used a Copic black Multiliner to trace around the larger leaves (see photos). Using Altenew’s Obsidian pigment ink and the small flower from their Garden Treasure Stamp set, I stamped the flowers on vellum and heat embossed using Altenew’s Crystal Clear embossing powder. I popped the flowers up using some clear double-sided tape. My sentiment was stamped on black card stock using Versamark ink and Altenew’s Pure White embossing powder. My card front was framed with black card stock and then mounted on my card base 4.25 x 4.25 Neenah Solar White #110 card stock. I embellished the card using Recollections Adhesive Rhinestones.
